Cook County does not operate one countywide assessment-appeal deadline. Appeal windows open and close by township, and the Assessor maintains a live calendar showing the applicable dates.

Source reviewed August 3, 2026. The calendar changes as townships open and later stages are posted. Verify the live township entry before relying on any date.

The current sequence

The calendar reviewed August 3 lists:

• Stickney Township through August 12
• West Chicago Township through August 21
• Lyons Township through September 3
• Northfield Township through September 4

It also lists Elk Grove Township through August 4, before this article’s scheduled publication. That short interval illustrates why a saved article or social post cannot replace the live county calendar.

A property owner therefore needs to identify the correct township before using a reminder, form, or filing link. A mailing address or neighborhood name should not be used as a substitute for the county’s township determination.

Assessor and Board of Review stages

Cook County provides an Assessor appeal opportunity and a later Board of Review opportunity. Those are separate stages with their own calendars and instructions.

Preserve the reassessment notice, property identification number, official property characteristics, township, stated value, and deadline. Use the current appeal rules and retain the submission confirmation and complete evidence set.

Cook County’s classification and assessment structure is locally specific. Avoid importing Texas terminology, a generic market-value calculation, or another Illinois county’s process.

FairPath can help organize source-visible property facts and owner-approved evidence, but the homeowner must verify the live township window and use the county’s current filing process. FairPath does not file, represent the homeowner, or guarantee acceptance, a reduction, savings, or another outcome.
